Super easy to use during a hockey game with minimal user interaction so that you can keep focused on game play.

ASSISTANCE:
iOS8 users may encounter a frozen main screen upon first use. This means that you have not created the two required playlists in your Music app. One time only, you must manually create and populate two playlists from within the Music App. Label them exactly "Arena Music" and "Arena Sounds" (case sensitive). All of your favourite music and sound effects are now ready to be accessed from the Arena PA App when launched. Some devices have to be restarted for the app to recognize your playlists.User guides and videos are available to help you. Use the support links or email us at [email protected] for assistance.

FEATURES:
Goal scoring: single Goal button using one tap to sound the goal horn. No need to waste time scrolling or swiping to find that sound effect. Build on the excitement as the puck crosses the goal line.

Public address: live feature for announcing goals and penalties. Use the built-in microphone on your device to inform the crowd about goals, assists and penalties. The crowd is going nuts.

Stoppage in play: single Music button using one tap to instantly play music from your Arena Music playlist during an icing, off-side, or when the goalie freezes the puck. Press the Music button again to stop the music when the puck drops. The next song in your playlist is automatically set to play when you press the Music button again. You will have them dancing in the isles with your personal selection of music.

Sound effects for game situations: Penalties, hat tricks, time outs, and more. Youll have instant access to play your favourite sound effect for any game situation right from your Arena Sounds playlist. The crowd chuckles at your sense of humour.

Pros and cons of Arena PA app for iPhone and iPad

Arena PA app good for

Shuffles music, instant goal horn. Makes playing music at our kids hockey games fun. No more searching for songs and sounds. Well worth downloading, read the description, just as advertised.
The big buttons on the main screen make it much easier to start and stop the music without any chance of accidentally hitting the wrong button (like skipping tracks). Nor do you have to manually switch to the next track - it automatically goes to the next song. The situation buttons are very handy for playing particular music/effects but Ive suggested to the developer giving the ability to attach playlists to them instead of just single tracks. If you have a collection of tracks for penalty situations, youd only need one situation button to choose one of them. Also suggested having the audio fade out briefly when stopping the music. Hopefully that gets in a future update. Can you achieve the same thing without this or by using any other MP3 player? Sure, but this app makes it simpler and eliminates chances of making a mistake.
I have used it for a half dozen games. I found exiting iTunes by ejecting instead of just unplugging improves playlist access. The sound effects are the best. I think it is worth $6.
We downloaded this just after Xmas last year and have been using it ever since. We usually only control the PA when we are the home team, but most teams let us do it now when we are Visitors becasue the kids love it so much!! It does not take long to set up and learn the app and after that it is addicitve because it is so easy to use/ improve playlists/ update songs etc. Hockeymusic.ca is a good resource for building playlists and GoldWave is a great MP3 editor so you can get the songs set just to the exact part you want to play! Agree with suggestion for a quick fade at the end of the song so it is not a cold ending at each faceoff. Would also suggest that there be an option to avoid repeat songs when in Shuffle mode.
When I got the app it had trouble finding the playlist. I sent them am email and they got back to me in a few hours. I had to restart my iPhone. The edit is a little week but it doesnt have to do much. If youre looking to bring a little something extra to your kids game, this should do it. Its easy to use so you could probably still run the clock it you had to.
I wanted a little more control over the audio at our games than what my iPhone let me do, so for the last year and a half was bringing up my MacBook and playing music from iTunes. For 6 bucks I think this little app is pretty solid. I tried it out last night at our home game and it worked fine. However, I had to act quickly at one point when the music stored in the "Other" directory would not shut off when I touched the title - it just kept restarting the track. I had to jump to "Live" mic to kill the music. The ability to add to the "Situation" and "Other" sections is good, but Id like to see a volume level that was app-wide. The regular music sections level control is great, but sometimes when jumping out of that mode and into a specially track it blasted a little too loud. I guess its just how you utilize this app. If youre like me and edit audio down so it comes in at chorus lines or at certain breaks in a song, then compile a playlist its fine. But if youre just looking for music, youre iPod or iPhone is fine. I hope the makers keep updating the app with more organs and sound effects as well… and dont be scared to use excitable voices! The monotone PA announcer is a little boring! And for the nay-sayers here, Im not a fake review. Im Jeff up in Musquodoboit Harbour, Nova Scotia! Go Eastern Shore Atom Vipers!

Some bad moments

I thought it would have so much more its just a sound board and a mic to plug in to and audio jack nothing you cant do with a mic and and an mp3.
Seriously, I feel SO duped. What a shaky, amateur-ish app, I cant believe I was suckered into shelling out $6. The "playlist create thing is wonky as hell, and after about 20 tries, Ive officially given up. Money back please. And Im pretty sure the first couple of positive comments are FAKE.
I downloaded it based on the great reviews but it doesnt work. The screen freezes once you open the APP. I want my 6.00 back!
Just bought it and freezes - wont work. Will this be updated for iOS8?
Is this some kind of a joke? I just downloaded this app. and it does not work at all. A horn goes off when you open the app. and then thats it. Nothing works. I just garbaged $6
I thought this seemed like a great app. I wish I wouldve have read the reviews first. Same as the last few. It opens up, but nothing after that. It just freezes. Sooooo disappointing. I want my $ back too.....Id rather it work, but thats obviously not going to happen!!
